Public Information

The SENY / Area 49 Public Information committee helps non-alcoholics learn more about A.A. and the disease of Alcoholism.

WHAT IS PUBLIC INFORMATION AND WHY IS IT NECESSARY?

Public Information (P.I.) in Alcoholics Anonymous means carrying the message of
recovery to the still-suffering alcoholic by informing the general public about the A.A.
program. We carry the message by getting in touch with and responding to the media,
schools, industry, and other organizations which can report on the nature and purpose
of A.A. and what it can do for alcoholics.- {A.A. Public Information Workbook-page 5}

The Meeting Guide App is a way to carry the message to those who need it.

Our primary purpose, according to the A.A. Tradition number 5, is to help the next sick
and suffering Alcoholic by any means necessary and the Meeting Guide App is just
such a means.

Looking for a meetingClick here to get started- it will take you to the
Alcoholics Anonymous webpage with instructions on how to download the Meeting
Guide App. The Meeting Guide is one of our newest tools to help those seeking a
meeting in almost any geographic region. It allows for you to enter the city and state
where you are and it will show you all the A.A. Meetings in the area you have selected.
It is also scalable by milage to expand or contract your search and in some cases by
country as well. It is an effective tool to helping those who seek our help. A meeting is
the first step on the journey to Sobriety.

Another item of interest contained in the App itself is its filter system. You can filter by
language, it currently handles English and Spanish, by type of group you are seeking,
i.e.; young people or men’s meetings, etc. and by many more options.

It also contains a news button that links to the latest news from the General Service
Office. Helpful information updates for the whole fellowship can be found here.

Public Service Announcements are a tool we use to carry the message.

Alcoholics Anonymous has many PSAs to share with the Public. Click below for a graphic PSA with anonymously shared member experiences, strengths and hope as voice overs.

These are two of the ways in which Public Information works to carry the message of
AA out to the public. In Alcoholics Anonymous Public Information is anything that carries
the message of Sobriety. Check back on this page frequently for more posted ideas on
how you can connect with A.A. and help those who suffer from the disease of
Alcoholism.
